Welcome to Waipara School

Waipara School is a small rural school which offers an inclusive, safe and supportive environment that promotes creativity and curiosity where students can flourish academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

Teachers nurture a joy in learning where children can be confident in themselves. We believe that every child is unique and special, and we celebrate their learning journey and successes – To be the best we can be.

We are lucky to have Manawa, our school moa who stands proudly at our school gate welcoming visitors and keeping an eye on our school. The children are very proud of Manawa whose name means “Heart and Soul” and links to our strategic plan and school values of Manawanui – Perseverance and Resilience, Manaakitanga- Kindness and Support, Pono and Tika- Honesty and Integrity, and Whakaute – Respect.

Waipara School Would Like To Thank The Kate Valley Landfill Community Trust for all their Support

In 2025 we have been lucky enough to have had financial assistance to make three morning classes for numeracy and literacy.

The Kate Valley Landfill Community Trust is a charitable trust established by Transwaste when the landfill opened in 2005. Its purpose is to distribute funds donated by Transwaste, based on volumes of waste sent to the landfill each year, “for the benefit of those people whose principal place of residence is within the contributing area of the Waipara School”.

The Trust Board consists of 2 people appointed by Transwaste, one elected from Amberley and 3 elected from Waipara. The Trust has distributed more than 1.5 million dollars over the last 20 years, including over the last five years a total of over $80,000 to the Waipara School.

Applications for funding are advertised in February of each year.
