The concrete step has been broken up and carted away as workmen make the area ready for the new ramp and decking to extend our classroom working spaces. The corridor and toilets have been gutted and the new wall linings are being replaced along with new toilets, basins etc. The two vision panels (windows!) have been cut out from each classroom into the corridor (break out shared space) and the two classroom doorways made wider (and without doors.....). At the back of the building, the steps and verandah are taking shape, as are the two entrance doors into each classroom. This verandah area will house the children's bags, lunches etc. The library and Room Two are being created into the temporary teaching spaces for Harakeke (Room Four) and Tarata (Room Three). All go at Waipara School. Come and have a look if you are passing by - the workmen are very amenable.
