On Wednedsay 13 December, the Waipara Memorial Hall was host to four local schools - Amberley, Leithfield, Sefton and Waipara - to share their Kapa Haka learnings for 2017, under our fabulous tutor, Matua Rihari Walker. Matua Rihari has been working in these four schools for the past five years, teaching children waiata, actions and the protocols of Kapa Haka performances. This year's Culmination Day did not disappoint with the hall full to overflowing with a huge turn out of parents in attendance. Each school presented their own performance, ranging from poi to haka and each school's contribution was well received by an appreciative audience. A wonderful coming together of our local schools. At the conclusion, the children involved crossed the road to Waipara School, where a shared morning tea was enjoyed by all, before returning to their respective schools, satiated with food and the joy of performing in a massed event.
